Did you know that some patients like to wear glasses just for fashion reasons?
Did we ever think we would see that day?
If you have LASIK, PRK, SMILE, ICL, refractive lens exchange, or modern laser cataract surgery and you aren’t as dependent on glasses as you were before, you can still get plain glass put into glasses to wear when it is fashionable.
We call the plain glass “plano.” Plano lenses are lenses that have no visual correcting power. . People who wear plano lenses usually wear them purely for cosmetic reasons, without any need for vision correction.
We have found that some patients (after vision correction) enjoy accentuating their facial features with frames.
However, even most of these patients begin to wear them less and less as they become more comfortable in their visual freedom. This would mean comfort beat fashion with those patients!
Regardless of where you sit on this debate, our faces are all shaped differently, which adds to the beauty of our world. For those of you who want LASIK so you don’t “need” glasses or contacts anymore – so you can swim without them, travel without them, wake up without them and live life without them, you can still always have plano lenses put into your frames if you want to change your “look” or if you feel your face looks great with some frames.
